Ol' Timer

It was a good group at Sketchclub this past Friday ... there were five of us. Not only have we picked up Armand Serrano last week, but we also picked up Luis Grane this week. (There will be more to come on Luis when he posts.) Hopefully we'll have both their drawings posted shortly.

Our "mark" this time around was an old timer sitting on a bench soaking up some sun. Ah, California winter!

Johnny Bravo?

When the Sketchclub executives made their mark, special Sketchclub guest Armand Serrano remarked, "Who? Johnny Bravo over there?" That's exactly what this guy looked like ... sans the muscles of course. Boy, whadda head of hair!

In Like Flint?

This older gentleman had a little of that James Coburn thing going: rugged, slim, with a shock of white hair. Here's the set up ... Noelle and I spotted him as he was talking with his wife outside the theater, then he turned and walked up to the ticket booth. That was when I took my mental snapshot, "CLICK." He had a peculiar walk as he hurriedly waddled from side to side on his bow legs; he was probably thinking, "I've gotta see that King Kong again!"

Changes Afoot At Sketchclub

Stephen and Marcelo inside the Sony Studios in Culver City, California -- 2006

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and so it is with Stephen Silver’s participation in Sketchclub. We are losing one of the founding members of Sketchclub. (Stephen has fulfilled his contract with Sony Pictures Animation and moved on to greener pastures within the animation business.)

The good news is Stephen will join us from time to time for guest appearances, and wherever he ends up I’m sure Stephen will set up another Sketchclub franchise ... and of course we will link to it whenever that happens.

Happy New Year 2006!

This turned out to be a light week for the Sketchclub crew, Marcos and Noelle weren't able to join us, so it was just Stephen and I "out on the prowl." We spotted our mark earlier this week, but unfortunately due to unforseen interuptions in our Sketchclub routine Stephen wasn't able to finish his drawing. (Dawg-gone-it, why does work always get in the way?) So, in a way I would imagine that it's not much fun to see a memory sketch ... with nothing to compare it to. Sorry. Hopefully we'll make it up to you next week!

It had been a while since we posted, so I thought I would go ahead and post my sketch anyway. This would give me an excuse to wish you all a Happy New Year, and to let you know we're still here.

(Oh, by the way, this guy must be in some big-big trouble because he was on to us from the moment we spotted him ... the whole time he kept nervously looking over his shoulder at us. Hopefully, we leaned on his guilty conscience enough and he returned those overdue library books.)
