The Painter

Saw this kid as we were leaving Sketchclub. I'm going to take a wild guess and say he's a house painter of sorts -- or he got in a fight with a wedding cake.

I did this one in watercolor.

Awesome Old Guys

I was on my way to the post office after Sketch Club when I looked back and noticed these two behind me. Can you tell why it was imperative to get out my camera, enjoy! :]

Buddha Ears

I was doodling after dinner tonight and did this quick sketch of today's mark; then threw it into Photoshop to play with some color.
Need to get back in the habit of doing these every week, memory is getting rusty :]

(...and on a personal note, you guys are the best, I don't think I've laughed so hard in years!)

Red Bow and Beach Dad

Yesterday I set aside time to sketch out some marks. Then my computer got a virus, so I whipped out some markers and experimented a bit. :]

This lady was fun to draw! So many layers of clothing.

She was wearing a lot of layers and had huge glasses.
I couldn't imagine her BEEing anything other than a bee.

Last Week's Mark

Just did her last night, a week after seeing her, so the details were hazier than usual in my head. Played around with a different style, drawing solely with Photoshop's lasso tool. The bird was artistic license since I also made the image my Daily Zoo sketch for the day.

With one quick glance I knew what I wanted to draw with this guy. With a mug like that, it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

The Football, I mean Pug

I'm much happier with my pug than the quick "scene" I attempted to put together. I was aiming to do this really fast but it ended up taking an hour just like the last time I recorded myself with the "Shades of Brown" girl. Did play with a new brush in Photoshop though and I really like it so it's a very good day! :]

I'm just going to end on, Dogs are AMAZING! I love them :]

Sketchclub at the Dog Park!

Sketchclub management booked us at the local dog park instead of our usual restaurant spot. I've never been to a dog park before, and learned that a dog park is divided into two parks -- one for big dogs, and one for big wimpy dogs and little dogs.

I went into the large dog area figuring the larger dogs would be easier to draw, but I soon learned my interest kept straying my eyes towards the wimpy and small dog section.

Small dogs are pure comedy! In part because I felt like I could finally understand them -- it helped that Kendra gave me a play by play commentary on what they were thinking. (Is there no limit to her talents?!)

As we were leaving we made our mark, a dog that (in my opinion) was so fat he had changed his species! He didn't have a red ball in his mouth, but if he did he'd look just like a roasted pig.

Finally, better late than never. I remember the setup and feel more than I remember the features of the girl. Gotta pay more attention to that next time. Always find it hard to choose between character, gesture, or overall setting. So much info to find out there in this marvelous world. Anywho, here is my take.

Big Guy...really BIG GUY!

OK, I admit, it was like shooting fish in a barrel, but this was the mark on Friday.

We had a pretty good turnout: me, Kendra, Jeremy, Omar, Rustum, Chris, Mark, Glenn, Tuna, Cathy, and Joey were there drawing up a storm. Egads, I hope I didn't leave anybody out.

Opposites attract

This is an older mark. I missed last weeks drawing session, but I had to get something up before today's Sketch Club session. My new goal is to post my version mark every week. Maybe I'll get today's mark up later this afternoon...

Friday the 19th

After many months of Sketchclub drought I was able to make it down to join Marcelo and Company at Daphne's. Always a fun time... As the rest of the group was settling on a "mark" I bumped into an old Sony acquaintance and said hello...Meanwhile the "mark" got up and left so I only had a peripheral glance. All I remember was big hair and flowery 3/4 length pants... I left the rest to my subconscious memory's imagination.
