My very first posting!

I'm a newbie here.

Still trying to figure out how things work. 

And this happens to be my very first posting. 

I haven't been coloring since college so please excuse my choices. 

Hope I get better.

Sketchclub update...

Here's the mark for this week. I'm certain the hair was darker, but my lay-in color looked so nice, I decided to keep it.

This week, Mark McDonnell showed up to draw with us at Sketchclub -- hadn't seen him in a little while. Gosh, his sketchbook looked so good, I'm sure we'll be seeing yet another book from him. Really funny drawings, he had me in stitches!

And... new comer Natalie Hall joined our club for the first time. Wow, this girl can draw.

And, it looks like the very talented Kendra Melton is going to be working a gig in New York for a stint. Hopefully we'll be seeing lots of New York drawings on her blog.

Todd Hampson

Todd Hampson, from Timbuktoons, was our special guest at Sketchclub. He, and his good friend Shawn, came in all the way from Georgia. And, as is the ritual, he sketched out the mark strictly from memory.

I have some spare time at the moment, so I sculpted, painted and rendered the mark.  Marcelo gave me a "Oh that's disgusting", so I guess it's a thumbs up.

The Bygone Era

We immediately zeroed in on this kid, he just stood out like a shining beacon from a bygone era -- a forgotten time when kids were wholesome and innocent. It's like he stepped off the set of Leave it to Beaver -- before Eddie Haskell moved to the neighborhood.

No nose ring, tattoos or piercings, no skull T-shirt, studded belt or ripped up jeans. I'll bet if I picked him up by his ankles and gave him a shake, bubble gum, baseball cards and his mom's grocery list would fall out of his pockets.

And so the Sketchclub franchise continues to grow! Phil Allora, John Banh and Josh Lange have stared up their own Sketchclub franchise, right in the heart of Los Angeles on Wilshire Blvd! Go and visit with them, they have some very fun drawings.

Man, visiting the ol' gang was good for my soul.  Great artists and even better people!  Like Moe said this guy had it coming.  We all decided it would be a good thing to post our versions of this guys.  Here's my version.

What, Glenn Harmon at the Culver City Sketch Club? I thought he moved onto the big-leagues and went up to Dreamworks? YES! The award winning story artist/director Glenn Harmon came to hang out with the Sketch Club gang. What a wonderful surprise.

...one of us had to post something, so here it is. She walked by yesterday, I don't know if anyone else spotted her. It wasn't in the clothing, but all in the 'tude.

When I finished the Mark, I couldn't help myself I had to draw Patterns Chick as well. We saw her before we picked the mark and she was just fantastic! I am not sure what look she was going for, but there was a lot going on ON her.

I was doodling after dinner tonight and did this quick sketch of today's mark; then threw it into Photoshop to play with some color.
Need to get back in the habit of doing these every week, memory is getting rusty :]

Last Week's Mark

Just did her last night, a week after seeing her, so the details were hazier than usual in my head. Played around with a different style, drawing solely with Photoshop's lasso tool. The bird was artistic license since I also made the image my Daily Zoo sketch for the day.
