Sketch Club
After lunch, Sketch Club identifies a person of interest, usually for their unique or distinct characteristics. The subject is briefly studied without drawing. Once back from lunch and back at the drawing board, the subject is drawn from memory.

When Stephen and I agreed that this was our mark, we had already passed this guy. So we asked Marcos if he wanted this guy as our mark, and if he had had a look at him. A distracted Marcos asked, "Who? Oh, you mean that guy we passed ... OK." Imagine that, Marcos is so good, he can memorize our mark ... after the fact. We all burst out laughing. And, make no mistake, Marcos nailed him in his memory sketch.

"Keep On Truck'n" has a new spokesman!
This kid certainly has a "look," right down to his stroll. When Marcos marked him, I burst out laughing. I knew right away he was the one. The irony is this kid has that look where he's very contemporary and hip, but also he could have gone to my high school in 1979!
And ... let there be no doubt, he was wearing new tennis shoes.

This week we have a special guest to Sketchclub ... and hopefully a regular contributer. Please welcome, the talented, Marcos Mateu Mestre!!
Marcos joined the Sony Pictures Animation team all the way from Spain and is currently sharing his talents with the Surf's Up crew. Boy, can this guy draw! Go and check out his web site at ... http://www.marcosmateu.com

Another backlot personality here at the Sony Studios. To get the full effect, picture this guy zipping around at about 25 miles per hour on that thing. It made me laugh, he looked like a 12 year old on a tricycle. Mind you, both Stephen and I had about three or four seconds to look and memorize him.

I'm so ashamed! Here Stephen does a wonderful full-bodied, full-colored sketch of this guy, and I have the embarrasing task of posting my Post-it drawing.
Just to let everyone know, Stephen captured every aspect of this guy, I didn't even come close. As a matter of fact, his drawing is so acurate, I'm sure photos of this guy don't look as much like him as does this caricature.

This one was a quick one. This guy darted around a corner and rode past us ... in a matter of seconds he was gone. Since he was the most interesting character we had to choose from, I looked over at Steven and asked, "Was that the one?" So, the Sketchclub executives made an on-the-spot decision to take it.
From our fertile memory banks to your eyeballs.
